|Too much of our food ends up as waste. This web site and blog promotes the idea that “food is food” and presents commentary and insights on how to make sure food gets eaten.
||Avoidable food waste is food that was at one point edible. This includes food that for whatever reason did not get eaten. This could be from over-shopping, overcooking, not liking your husband’s cooking or your mother-in-law’s leftovers.
||Think fruit and vegetable peelings, bones and eggshells. Don’t eat it. This is food that is inedible and should at the very least be composted or digested.
||This is sort of like “Baywatch” for food except without all the running. It is a sad irony that food can become waste and people are hungry at the same time. Food rescue sees fresh foods, destined to be disposed, going to those that need it.
